A reserving/reporting-cycle role rather than a capital strategy role, because recurring financial close and regulatory deadlines define the operating cadence.
Remote Health actuarial manager role supporting CareOregon’s Actuarial Services team from Montana. You’ll lead IBNR and health liability estimates, cost and utilization forecasting, ROI analysis, regulatory reporting, and financial performance analysis for Medicaid and Medicare, while managing actuarial staff and partnering with business leaders.
Requirements
Must have
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in actuarial services related to health care
- Work experience in health insurance
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
Strongly preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience (or 1 year with Aspiring Leaders Program)
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
- Experience with Medicaid and Medicare
- Experience estimating IBNR, risk adjustment transfers, and other health care liabilities and assets
- Experience analyzing health care cost and utilization data
- Extensive knowledge of managed care and the Oregon Health Plan
- Knowledge of various methods of estimating IBNR and other reserves
- Ability to construct and use actuarial cost models for cost and utilization, trend, and benchmarking analysis
- Proficient with SAS, SQL, and/or R
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to develop and maintain Tableau dashboards
- Ability to develop and lead high performing team members
