Closer to a modeling-heavy IC role than a reserving cycle position—the deciding factor is explicit AXIS model stewardship and infrastructure depth, not just recurring valuation production.

Associate Life actuarial role in MassMutual’s Life Valuation Modeling team, based in New York, Springfield, or Boston. You’ll use AXIS to project statutory, GAAP/LDTI, and tax valuation results for individual life products, support complex modeling projects, and explain results to stakeholders. The role requires an ASA and at least four years of actuarial experience.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

Bachelor's degree in quantitative or technical field
ASA designation
4+ years of actuarial experience in insurance/financial services
1+ years of experience with Axis

Nice to have

FSA designation
4+ years of Axis experience with model leadership
Accountability and ownership of long-term independent projects
Proficient with Axis features: DataLink, investment cells, scenario files, embedded block processing
Understanding of modeling infrastructure: ELink, GridLink, output databases
Experience with Principle-Based Reserves, valuation regulations, product design, modeling assumptions, inforce policy data
Proficient with MS Excel and SQL
Strong math, analytical and collaboration skills
Strong communication skills
Continuous improvement mindset
Ability to build strong working relationships across cross-functional groups
