The Director & Actuary - ISG modeling role serves as the leader of the IDI and EB modeling teams. They will provide expertise both in the product lines they support along with the projection methodologies the team produces.

The role will collaborate closely with other leaders across the company to provide insight for both projection modeling analysis as well as governance and best practices for valuation model stewardship.

The role also implements and identifies modeling strategies and solution that enhance the value of the modeling org for The Standard.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management: Direct and control the activities within a ISG modeling team. Provide direct supervision to professional individual contributors and managers including training, development and coaching. Establish a high-performing environment, fostering collaboration within the team. Identify workforce needs and ensure alignment with corporate manager expectations, values and vision. (30%)
  • Financial Projection Modeling/Model Stewardship: Gather, analyze and develop strong understanding of projection model usages at the company relevant to the ISG business line (Duration Measurement, JFSA, CFT) utilizing company, industry and capital market data as necessary. Create and maintain models used in the analysis of ALM, risk management, income projection and regulatory requirements. Communicate findings to management and provide quantitative knowledge for business/investment/financial strategies. (40%)
  • Cross Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with ISG and AT/IT to meet business needs. Meet needs of both internal and external stakeholders related to model governance and analysis. Advocate for modeling solutions that promote the strength of the Actuarial Modeling Org. (30%)


Skills and Background You'll Need:

Education: Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, business or a related field. (required)

Certification: FSA or equivalent (required)

Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years experience in the actuarial field or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Broad actuarial, financial and industry expertise combined with unique product line knowledge that contributes to the achievement of company goals.
  • Experience working on significant and complex issues where analysis of situations requires evaluation of quantitative, qualitative, forward looking and organizational factors.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.


Salary Range:
$143,750.00 - $229,750.00
