As the first life and health actuary, you will own pricing and rate/form filings from development through Department of Insurance approval, while building actuarial infrastructure with engineers. Requirements
Must have
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and member of American Academy of Actuaries
Qualified under US Qualification Standards to issue the statements of actuarial opinion required by the role
At least three years of actuarial work experience in life, health, or both
Strongly preferred
Learn quickly, take ownership, and wear multiple hats in building a new actuarial department
Nice to have
Filed through SERFF under own name
Experience with ACA-compliant individual or small group rate filings and federal rate review, or long-term care and disability rate increase filings
Experience with principle-based reserving under VM-20, or product development from pricing through filing and launch
Time spent inside a state insurance department or on the reviewer side of health rate review
Comfortable with growing regulatory scrutiny of predictive models, external data, and algorithmic underwriting in life and health
