Modeling & Actuarial Solutions (MAS) is the central actuarial modeling, testing and production team in MetLife. This modeling team in Kuala Lumpur has been set up with the aims to support all the modeling needs in the Asia region, working with the MAS Hong Kong team. The model will cover all important financial calculations and projections including VNB, US GAAP/LDTI, EC reporting etc.

LOCATION: Kuala Lumpur
THE ROLE:
The incumbent will play a key role as an IT expert to provide advice and support to the actuarial modelling team in implementing and maintaining MetLife Asia’s models. He/She is required to possess the knowledge in both the actuarial modelling and the latest advanced technology. will he incumbent has to carry out the coding to meet internal and external requirements and/or assist in model migration for countries designated to him/her
The incumbent will also be looking after IT related issues that arise during the model development and/or production. This includes understanding the causes of the issues and suggesting the solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Play an IT expert role in the actuarial modeling team. The responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain the actuarial models in Python or other suitable programming languages
- Provide IT advice and support to other team members or the local country counterparts
- Understand the cutting-edge technology development and trends
- Resolve difficult technical IT issues encountered in the model release process or production
- Improve the modeling process and efficiency by utilizing the latest technology
- Migrate the existing legacy actuarial models to the latest and advanced platform (e.g. Python)
- Closely and regularly communicate with local country counterparts on the model requirements and issues encountered
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:
- At least 5 years of practical IT experience working in actuarial department
- In-depth knowledge and experience in programming skills (e.g. Python, C++), database, parallel computing and/or Azure.
- Knowledge of latest technology development and trends such as AI, machine learning, etc.
- Experience of actuarial modelling, e.g. Prophet, is a plus
