Strategic client advisor in benefits consulting

More client-facing than a modelling-heavy IC: senior advisory ownership and relationship growth outweigh time spent building models.

Director-level Health and Benefits consulting role in New York, focused on employer health plans and related life, disability, dental, and vision benefits. You’ll lead strategic client engagements, actuarial and financial analysis, renewals, plan design, carrier negotiations, and advisory teams. The hybrid role requires at least three days per week in the local office or with clients.

Requirements

Must have

  • 5+ years of experience in health and benefits consulting and/or actuarial work

Strongly preferred

  • BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Progress toward the ASA designation
  • Demonstrated experience leading client engagements for complex health care benefit plans
  • Strong client-facing experience and confidence advising senior stakeholders
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Nice to have

  • Experience combining health & benefits consulting with actuarial leadership
  • Strong understanding of employer health plan strategy, renewals, funding, and plan design
  • Ability to lead large, complex projects and influence client decisions
