Role type

Valuation and reserving cycle role

Closer to a reserving and reporting cycle role than a capital strategy role—the recurring monthly and quarterly valuation work is explicit, with no capital or ORSA remit.

Senior Health actuarial valuation role supporting Group Health, Employer Stop Loss, and related Accident & Health and Life products. You’ll analyze claims, establish reserves, maintain valuation and reporting models, support statutory and reinsurance work, and communicate recommendations to business leaders. The role is fully remote and can be staffed anywhere in the lower 48 U.S. states.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or similar quantitative field
  • ASA or comparable Associate-level actuarial credential
  • 4-7 years of actuarial experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • Proven knowledge of actuarial methods, statistical analysis, and actuarial software/databases
  • Experience with Tableau or similar analytical software and programming languages
  • Basic competencies including command skills, strategic agility, delegation, motivating others, business perspective, and accounting
  • Highly-developed competencies in business understanding, problem solving, customer focus, dealing with ambiguity, drive for results, and learning ability

Nice to have

  • Ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Collaborative, self-directed approach with sound decision-making in evolving environment
  • Previous Employer Stop Loss or Group Health valuation experience
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools
