Closer to client consulting than an internal modelling role—the deciding factor is ownership of engagements and renewal discussions.

Senior Health Actuary Consultant role in Mercer’s Health Actuarial and Financial Consulting team in San Francisco. You’ll lead employer health benefits engagements covering financial projections, plan design, underwriting, and renewal negotiations, while advising clients and directing junior staff. The hybrid schedule requires at least three office days per week.

Requirements

Must have

  • BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years experience in actuarial field with health and benefits consulting experience
  • Proven progress to obtaining ASA designation
  • Client facing experience
  • Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strongly preferred

  • Experience in health benefits actuarial consulting
  • Strong programming skills in R and Python for reusable code in actuarial modeling and automation
  • ASA credentialed
