Modeling-focused individual contributor

Closer to a modeling-focused role than a student development programme—the ad names one Assumptions team rather than rotations.

Actuarial internship supporting experience studies and assumption setting in the U.S. retirement market. You’ll analyze policy-level data, contribute to assumption attribution work in Prophet, and collaborate with Valuation, Product Development, Planning, and Finance. The role is hybrid, with options in Overland Park or Topeka, Kansas, Des Moines, Iowa, or remote for the right candidate.

Requirements

Must have

  • Must be a current full-time student available to work 10-20 hours/week starting fall 2026, including full-time over summer
  • Full-time college student in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance or Computer Science at the sophomore to graduate level
  • Advanced Excel knowledge/skill including functions and macro creation, editing and use
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines

Strongly preferred

  • Commitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for SOA-administered exams or exam credit
  • Demonstrated ability with Visual Basic coding, SQL and/or R
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong GPA in major and in all areas of study
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and the ability to be very detail oriented
