Role Summary

Role type

Enterprise actuarial transformation builder

Closer to transformation build-out than a recurring valuation or capital role—the deciding factor is ownership of implementations, reporting changes, and cross-functional delivery.

Director-level Life insurance actuarial role in Pacific Life’s Enterprise Finance & Actuarial Projects team, based in Newport Beach, CA, with options in Omaha or Charlotte. You’ll own enterprise-wide actuarial initiatives, including VM-22 implementation, reporting transformations, governance frameworks, and cross-functional delivery, while leading a team of 3+.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

8+ years of relevant experience in life insurance or reinsurance industry
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent professional qualification
Deep working knowledge of actuarial reporting frameworks
Experience operating as a product owner, delivery lead, or technical lead on project-based work
Strong ability to synthesize complex technical topics into clear messaging for senior leaders and non-actuarial stakeholders
Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver results in a fast-paced, ambiguous, matrixed environment
Experience working with external stakeholders to drive results
Lead a team of 3+ individuals, balancing project work with individual growth and exam progress

Nice to have

Experience with actuarial modeling and strong technical skillset
Strong project management and communication skills
Knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations and recent developments
